This is the part where I get to use my creativity and imagination! What will it be this time? A snappy headline for the next Twitter post, deciding the tone to write website copy in, back cover copy for a picture book or even a rhyming story with animals rehearsing their jungle song?

I've written for a variety of purposes and audiences from businesses to children. Each one lets me create a different voice; so one day I could be guiding students through an app and the next, meeting my characters; noisy farm animals, a pretty princess, or maybe a family of elephants and deciding what they'll get up - that's the magic! Then suddenly, eureka; that’s how the cow could save the day!

So if it's a writer or editor you need for your next children's or adult's book, or a copywriter for your digital product (a website or ebook maybe); I'd be happy to help so feel free to get in touch.

 Some of my favourites...

There are lots of sound books for little ones with photographs and sound words but I wanted to do something different with these! Getting them illustrated let us bring the animals to life with bright colours and big expressive faces to capture children's attention. I wrote simple, funny rhyming stories that little ones could easily follow and join in with and I centred the stories on the animals making their noises so that it pulled out each animal sound in an unusual, fun concept. These have been a big hit and were lots of fun to create too!

Bedtime for little ones means curling up with something soft and cosy. For this cloth book I wrote a gentle rhyme to bring out these elements as the animals snuggle down to sleep before it's baby's turn to do the same.

I set the designer and myself a challenge with all the things I wanted to cram into these books! We used photographs so children could link the image with the name to enable them to recognise the animal/insect
in future. Combining this with bright illustrated backgrounds let us create a fun context and grab attention. I wrote text that had early learning concepts - pulling out colours, numbers, etc but that also made good use of the die-cuts with leading questions to encourage curious minds to peep-through to find the answer!

Whether I'm writing a series of license sticker & activity books with characters children are familiar with or a series of doodle books, each format gives me the chance to be creative. With these books I used my imagination in a different way to come up with starting points for their creativity so they'll want to want to grab a pencil and dive in! With doodle text: 'The astronaut is not alone!''Yikes! Look at what's below the trap door!''I can see so many pictures in the clouds' and 'We have to be really quiet or it might hear us', what would you draw?
